Ход урока

1.      Организационный момент

Boys and girls three young guests from Great Britain have come to our school to meet our students. They were invited by the youth organization “WE”. The plan of they visit is to see Moscow and its places of interest. But it is not their only purpose. They also want to communicate with young people of the same age. They want to ask questions about our capital, political system, history and culture.  They names are Paul, William, Ann.

2.      Основная часть урока. Беседа с британскими сверстниками.

P.-  We are glad to meet you (applause).

If our guests don’t object we also want to ask them questions.

Ann- Sure, on the contrary. We agree. We’d like to have a friendly talk. May we ask the first question?

P. – Certainly.

Paul – We know that your parents when they were young lived in the country called the Soviet Union. You live in Russian Federation. When was the Russian Federation set up?

P.- The new government of the Russian Federation was set up by the Constitution of 1993. After its destruction the Soviet Union was broken up into independent Russia and 14 other new sovereign nations in 1991.

William – We know that the head of the Russian Federation is the President. Vladimir Putin is very popular in your country.

P. – Under the Constitution of 1993 Russia is a Presidential Republic. Putin is our former President. Our new President Medvedev is Putin’s  like-minded person. He hold the same views. We hope the main aim of our new President is the prosperity of Russia.

Ann – And what are the branches of the Russian government?

P. – The government consists of three brunches: the legislative, the executive and the judicial. Each of them is checked and balanced by the President. The legislative power is vested in the Federal Assembly. It consists of the Federation Council (upper house) and the State Duma (lower house).

P. – As far as we know the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is a constitutional monarchy. Your country is headed by the Queen Elisabeth II, but in fact she doesn’t  rule the country.

Paul – I see what you mean. The Queen is a symbol of the country history and its traditions. And you know that we are proud of our traditions very much.

P. – But what is she doing?

She travels about the United Kingdom, meets different people and visits schools, hospitals and other special places.

(Look at these photos)

William – We know that your country was ruled by many tsars for hundreds of years. Who was the most outstanding one?

P. – Peter the Great without doubt. He played a great part in Russian history. After his death Russia was much more secure and progressive than it had been before his reign. This picture was created by our outstanding painter Ge. We can see a talk of Peter the Great and his son.

P2. – Ann, the supreme legislative power is vested in the Parliament, isn’t it?

Ann – Sure. The Parliament has two chambers: the House of Lords with about
830 hereditary peers, 26 spiritual peers about 270 life peers and the House of Commons. The House of Commons has 650 popularly elected members.

P3.- Are you from different parts of Great Britain?

William – Yes, we are. Paul is from Wales, Ann is from England and  I am from Scotland. Every part  of Great Britain has it’s own symbol. The red rose is the national emblem of England, the thistle is the national emblem of Scotland. The daffodils and the leek are the emblems of Walse. I see beautiful pictures painted on the blackboard. Are they the pictures painted by Russian artists?

P4.- Yes, you are right. This is “Birch Grove” by A. Kuinji. He was Russian  impressionist. Look yow he shows light and colour. How he loves Russian nature. By the way there are a lot of birches in Moscow Region. We may say the birch is a symbol of our country. These pictures were painted by Konstantin Vasiljev. They are very poetical and fairy tale.

Ann – It sounds like a song.

P. – You’ve guessed. We’d like to sing you the song  Moscow Evenings – music by
V. Solovjov-Sedoy, words by M. Matusovsky.

Подведение итогов.
